!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been re-tweeting and liking tweets all night and morning about the outcome of this election. I’m still baffled and utterly at a loss for words. I’m scared. Scared for my friends who are African/ African American, Muslim, Latino and Hispanic. Scared for my friends who are apart of the LGBTQ+ community. Scared for woman who now have to fight even harder than they already are in the work force. This outcome is SO MUCH BIGGER than what you THINK it is. Do not get annoyed with people who are expressing their grief or emotions on social media. Do not tell us that we are over-reacting and try to shut us down.

WE WILL NOT STAY SILENT. 

I understand that people who voted for Trump were simply doing what everyone encouraged one another to do- exercising your right to vote. But I want people to understand, with an open-mind, that not everyone in America has the same opportunities as a privileged white man. People are fearing for their lives. They don’t know what’s in store for them now. Racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, AND more will continue to exist under our new president. But let’s hope that all of our past efforts will not be thrown to waste- and that we will continue to rise together. If you do not feel, in any way, effected by this outcome… then all I ask is for compassion. Compassion to understand the perspective of those who ARE deeply effected. If you are a poc, part of the LGBTQ+ community, a woman, or rather all of the above. YOU EXIST & YOU MATTER. Take as much time as you need to mourn and express your emotions such as I am on this small blog. I hope that our progress, although gradual, will continue and will NOT be taken away. But we will come out stronger than ever before from this election. Let not your hope, resilience, & activism be wavered.
