Product Review: Rose Gold “Love Yourself” Necklace

Every single piece of BlissfullyLiss Jewelry is handmade by the #girlboss herself- Melissa Cappolina. The “Love Yourself” necklace is an every-day, sweet, and simplistic piece that adds the perfect touch to any outfit. The copper chain, with beads breaking up every other link, adds a nice twist to what would be a simple chain. The rose gold heart, being the charm, has a jewel in the middle which creates a nice contrast to all of the gold.

When asked about the production process, Melissa proudly spoke about how she sources all of the gemstones, charms, and chains herself. During the design process, she always tries to combine different pieces together to create something unique. The creative director’s current obsession is incorporating freshwater pearls, vintage coins, and shells into all of her pieces.

As for my first impression, I absolutely loved the necklace when I first saw it on BlissfullyLiss’ Instagram and her packaging did not disappoint. The necklace came in an eco-friendly pouch with the brand’s stamp on it. Wrapped in seafoam green tissue paper, you can really tell that the jewelry owner has a love for the ocean. The necklace itself comes on a card with the brand’s logo on it and a picture of a model wearing some more of BlissfullyLiss’ products. In addition to this ocean-themed packaging, Melissa was even kind enough to include a handwritten note in honor of our collaboration- really showcasing how much she cares about her customers and collaborations.

After 1 1/2 week of wearing the necklace non-stop, I did notice that the chain started to wear down. However, I tend to always fall asleep with my jewelry on. (I know, I’m a bad jewelry caretaker.) The main charm still remained shiny and intact. So, if you want your jewelry to last longer than just be sure you correctly store/hang your jewelry after use. (unlike me) Overall, I would rate this necklace 8.5/10 🙂

Meet Melissa Cappolina, owner of BlissfullyLiss Jewelry and ocean-lover extraordinaire. Born and raised in Ocean City, New Jersey- the ocean has always felt like home to her. Now, the former Jersey resident has been living in California for 4 years and works for a jewelry company in downtown LA. On top of her full-time job, Melissa owns and runs her business all by herself. Through booking models and photographers, scheduling photoshoots, hand-making all of her jewelry, promoting her brand on Instagram, and fulfilling her jewelry orders by night- is there anything she can’t do?

Q. How did you come up with the name, logo, and packaging?

A. Friends and family call me Liss so with a little bit of help from my best friend Jackie and my parents, they all thought that Blissfully Liss was a good start!! I’ve kept it ever since!

For my logo, a dear friend that I met via Instagram designed it for me. It’s so perfect! Her name is Brianna Astleford (@briannafaitha) on IG! I believe she designed it over 3 years ago already. My mom actually got a stamp made with that logo that I use to stamp on my jewelry pouches. I really like to personalize each order with my branded pouch, business cards, bohemian tissue paper, and colorful bubble mailers! I think it makes the experience of opening a package from me more exciting!

Q. What is your brand’s mission and vision statement?

A. I’ve always had “Follow Your Bliss” in my Instagram bio. I really think that’s an important message. Even though it’s a commonly used phrase, some people forget!

I want girls and women to feel happy and confident wearing my jewelry. I always hope it makes them smile! I would love for people to feel inspired and hope they can find their bliss and happiness too.

Q. Do you ever find it hard to come up with new designs for your products?

A. Sometimes I get in a slump…I’ll create things, take them apart, try something different, take them apart again, etc. It can get overwhelming. But then other times I get a ton of ideas at once! Looking at things that inspire me like bohemian clothing, the beach, different color combinations, Pinterest and even Instagram are super helpful!

Q. Would you ever consider straying away from the beach boho chic style and designing something different?

A. My personal style has always been beachy and boho. I don’t think I would steer away from these vibes just because I love creating jewelry I would wear myself! It’s more exciting to design pieces I really have a passion for! Although, I do custom orders and anything is welcome. I have created pieces for customers before that are more simple and also very edgy! If you have an idea and want me to bring it to life, I can make it happen.

Q. Where do you see Blissfully Liss Jewelry in the future?

A. My dream has always been to open a boutique of my own. Sell my jewelry designs as well as clothing and other accessories that fit my style and vibe! I feel I can make this happen. If not, I would love to expand my online store into more categories and get a larger following. I really just want to grow with it as much as I can!

A. I love wearing the Mother of Pearl Star Bracelet. I’ve been wearing mine everyday for months now. It matches with every outfit!

Q. If you only had to choose one accessory to wear for the rest of your life- what would it be?

A. Probably earrings. Earrings spice up any look!! 

Q. What is your favorite item in your wardrobe right now?

A. Been obsessed with my REVICE LA jean shorts! They have a star on the butt…super fun and cute! Plus, they are a local brand I love to support.

A.Taurus. ♉

A. Both depending the occasion!

A. Coffee all the wayyyyy! Dunkin’ has my heart.

A. Any beach in Ocean City, NJ!!!! 

Q. How do you spend your “me time”?

A. Watching Hulu/Netflix, listening to music, watching the sunset.

A. Been binge watching the original 90210 on Hulu and I’m obsessed!

Q. What is your favorite song right now?

A. I’ve been loving Ed Sheeran’s new album. I really like his songs: Feels and Beautiful People.
