Wongfu Productions is a YouTube channel dedicated to making short films with your occasional comedic sketches. Consisting of 3 main guys: Phil, Wes, & Ted (although Ted doesn’t make as many appearances since his marriage)- these men are the definition of YouTube CREATORS. I’ve been watching them for as long as I could remember…before they hit 1 million subs I know that for sure! Since then, the team of 3 grew bigger & bigger. The crew now consists of: Christine, Ashley, Jenn, Taylor, Chris, & Benson! SIDE NOTE: Can we all take a moment to realize that Christine (legit the mom of the boys) is no longer part of the crew :'( Have no fear though because she left on a good note & I can’t wait to see what she does in the future!

Now let’s focus on their content. Wongfu Productions is widely known for their short films such as:
Strangers Again, The Last, and Kung Fooled

Moving onto the two main creators- Phil will gravitate towards writing more romantic, heartbreaking, & emotional shorts. Whereas Wesley, will focus more on capturing the aesthetics & beauty of life through the lens (he can also be found fanboying over Star Wars.) What I absolutely love about their videos is that they never fail to capture the simplistic beauties of life and the raw emotions that come with it. Furthermore, they have a strong passion for representing the Asian community and speaking of the lack of representation they get in Hollywood. I specifically remember a video where they were explaining the making of their movie & Phil had said something along the lines “they told us if we used a predominately Asian cast then we wouldn’t get a lot of views.” Their passion for Asian representation shows through their YouTube skits. And can I just say that their camera work, editing, production, writing, etc. are incredibly top-notch for just your average YouTube creators.

My favorite shorts by them are a couple that I would HIGHLY recommend you go check out!!
1. Komorebi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EsSyQfi218
– This short is in Japanese but w/ English subtitles! The word has meaning & it shows a simple every-day beauty in life.
2. These 4 Walls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7Vc4WeZQ38
– The shots in this short are absolutely astonishing. No dialogue needed for this little adventure. Wongfu aesthetics for sure!
3. The Last: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvxHPtEsmFc
– This freaking short gets me everytime. Perfect combo of love & life. Make sure you have a box of tissues before you click play.
